Mapping the Internal World of a Character is a strategy that gives students the opportunity to examine character’s emotions. This resource includes an overview of the strategy and clear steps to support practitioner preparation and implementation.
This resource is a framework for teaching perspective taking through narrative texts using a story map and explicit instruction of mental state vocabulary. Students identify key points in the story and discuss characters’ thoughts and feelings throughout the narrative.
This activity engages students in evaluating authors’ purpose. Students sort passages into three categories of author’s purpose: persuade, inform, and entertain.
During this activity students will listen to an Inference and take turns looking for the phrase on their gameboard that answers the Inference question.
