The Lexile Framework for Listening measures students’ listening skills using audio passages and comprehension questions that assess the students’ ability to identify the main idea, supporting details, and make inferences.
In this activity students will categorize words based on their meaning. To modify this activity the teacher can create the categories along with the vocabulary words.
During this activity, students brainstorm what they know about a given topic. After engaging with text, they revisit their brainstorm and identify words, ideas, etc. that were used in the text.
This resource is a tool for conducting observations to assess and improve teacher-student and student-student interactions, with a focus on open-ended questions and extended conversations to promote the development of student listening comprehension skill.
