One evidence-based practice to increase students’ vocabulary, knowledge, and comprehension is a Content-Rich English Language Arts approach to instruction.
This resource is a framework for teaching perspective taking through narrative texts using a story map and explicit instruction of mental state vocabulary. Students identify key points in the story and discuss characters’ thoughts and feelings throughout the narrative.
In this activity students will listen to the text and determine what the author is inferring by using information from the text and what is already known about the text.
