Word Generation Elementary

What is it?

Word Generation Elementary supports students’ vocabulary and knowledge development through an integrated literacy approach. Students engage in argumentation, analytic reasoning, perspective taking, discussion, and writing through content-area literacy activities such as newcasts, word studies, and reader’s theater. Word Generation Elementary has 12 units that explore topics such as “What is fair?”, “How can one person influence a community?”, and “When is it acceptable to break the rules?”. Each unit has 5-6 target vocabulary words that students engage with deeply through reading, writing, and discussion. Word Generation Elementary has additional resources available to help practitioners build upon/extend Word Generation Elementary content to support multilingual learners.
