Lexile Framework for Listening

What is it?

The Lexile Framework for Listening measures students’ listening skills using audio passages and comprehension questions that assess the students’ ability to identify the main idea, supporting details, and make inferences. Students are assigned a Lexile measure for audio passages as an outcome of this assessment. Practitioners can use this information to match students with appropriately leveled audio passages for instruction. Note: The demonstration videos available imply that the student would either need an adult to read the comprehension questions and multiple choice answers to the student, or the student would need to have proficient decoding skills to engage with the assessment independently.
