Epic! Is a platform that provides students with access to over 40,000 digital texts (books, audiobooks, and videos). Teachers can strategically assign books to students above the student’s independent reading level to allow the student to engage with more complex language and topics. Practitioners can track student progress through built in comprehension quizzes included at the end of select texts. This platform does not depend on students’ decoding ability. Features such as “Read-to-Me”, which dictate the text to the student, and the option to click on unfamiliar words to hear kid-friendly definitions make it easy for students to use this platform to practice listening comprehension. Additionally, practitioners can extend students’ engagement with Epic! and listening comprehension skill-building through rich dialogue after hearing a story.
